when lost at sea
"In the first of a series of trips around America, five Magnum photographers and one writer will be travelling from San Antonio to Oakland from May 12-26, 2011. Follow Christopher Anderson, Jim Goldberg, Susan Meiselas, Alec Soth, Mikhael Subotzky & Ginger Strand on this unique documentary experiment: Postcards From America."
I'm so excited to buy the book/follow this.

Hey little buddy! When you're older, you can thank me for saving you from being named Sebastian. In the meantime, though, just carry on about your business -- being the cutest baby in all the land.

Duluth FTW
I dislike purses. They are so bulky and heavy and always in the way of spontaneous dance parties. Unfortunately, I rarely pack light enough to travel, and I can't exactly fit keys/wallet/phone/books into my pockets. For that reason, I bring along my little mexipack, tossed over my shoulder and promptly forgotten until I need to dig through it.
Plus, she's hand-stitched leather and looks like she's seen a thing or two in her day. The more battered, the better.
My distaste for the purse, though, does mean that I love the hell out of backpacks. OH GOD, the packpack. I think I'm gonna add this little fella to the summer collection.

Sometimes when you are in a funk and all "what am I doing with my life? Who am I? Why am I working this ridiculous job in an industry that I hate? HAVEISOLDMYSOUL?!" the best thing to do is go out and drop $500 on lingerie and then SHABAM!
It doesn't matter if you don't know who you are so long as you know you look dayum good.

this is not the summer dream
Listen, weather, we have got to fahking talk. I want to put my hair in braids and wear bandanas and short shorts and ride my g-d bicyclette and take my dog to the park without freezing my old bones and refresh my freckles, so IF YOU COULD PLEASE ACCOMMODATE, I would really appreciate it.
In short (shorts), GIMME THE SUN.

Generally speaking, I really hate things like this, and even more so when they are accurate. But man. Sometimes.
There is a dog snuggled next to my left leg and my right arm is sore from playing Catch in the park yesterday. There is going to be a Tofutti mint chocolate chip sandwich in my mouth momentarily, and I have new art to hang.

adventures in domestication
Sarah made the most amazing vegan chili, and I made my first ever loaf of (non-dessert) bread. I followed this recipe, with a few alterations (mostly in terms of time left to rise -- I generously gave it overnight...which is to say, I fell into a food coma after eating so much chilli and forgot about the bread rising on our counter). The tartness of the bread perfectly cuts the spiciness of the chili (because what Sarah calls "a mild spicing" I call "sinus drainingly hot"), and we had some really wonderful (looking) company join us for dinner.
SNOOZE ATTACK.
raised on promises
Sarah and I took the dogs to the park while I helped her with a shoot. They were in heaven. Look at Jesse go!

c'est fini, enfin
Jaaaayyyysus! I thought this would never get finished, but here she is; I guess it's time to move onto painting things of spring.
But first, to put vegan chili on the stove & crusty rosemary bread in the oven, and then pick up some wine. Bracelet making and movie watching.
At some point I might even wash all the paint off my arms and hands and legs.
my head's been wet with midnight dew
I live with a really amazing woman, who is increasingly gifted in the "bringing dreams to reality" line of work.
The other day, she turned a silly conversation into a living room delight.
Check this out.

Snidey Sense FTW!
I joined a fantasy baseball league. Finally.
And I am RULING SO HARD. So it's only day two. So I haven't figured out how to trade players yet. None of these things matter. Because I am the champions.
ALL OF THEM.
